During his legendary 27-year coaching career at West Waterloo high school, Bob Siddens' Wahawks posted an incredible 327-26-3 dual meet record. His teams won 11 state team championships and 19 conference championships with 51 of his wrestlers winning individual state titles. Wrestlers coached by Siddens went on to win nine NCAA titles.
Siddens was also considered one of the nation's finest referees. He officiated at 24 consecutive NCAA tournaments during his tenure.
Prior to his time at West Waterloo, Siddens wrestled at State College of Iowa (now Northern Iowa) and coached one year at his former high school, Eagle Grove.
Did you know?
Siddens was the coach of Glen Brand Wrestling Hall of Famers Dale Anderson and Dan Gable. Both Anderson and Gable won NCAA titles in 1968 at different weight classes.
