Pro wrestling legend Sgt. Slaughter (center) visited the wrestling museum on February 15, 2008 with (from left) Brent Denton, Vito Vest, Woody Z, and Vince Morgan of TNT Monsters. All five were in town for the monster truck show held at McElroy Auditorium.

Sgt. Slaughter next to a cutout of Chris Taylor. Slaughter and Taylor wrestled professionally together under Verne Gagne in the AWA. Taylor was also an amateur star, winning two NCAA title for Iowa State in 1972 & 73. He also won a bronze medal at the 1972 Munich Olympics.  
 
 
“On the Mat” is a weekly wrestling radio program that airs every Wednesday night. The broadcast can be heard live from 6-7 p.m. Central Standard Time. The Dan Gable International Wrestling Institute and Museum in Waterloo, Iowa, hosts the show.
